The trailer to "Equestria Girls" (the humanized MLP spinoff film) finally was released today. Aaaannnd everyone's freaking out. Again.
You know, it actually looks pretty decent. Bronies... please understand: I know you're a major unexpected demographic for the show. I know you enjoy seeing shout-out's become canon within the show, and appreciate how the creators do little things here and there for you. But... the show isn't made for you. This is not Cartoon Network and the target demographic isn't 25 year olds in college. You're a nice addition to the target demographic of little girls, but you are not the driving force behind MLP.
I don't want this to sound mean, but it needs to be said. This is where it becomes very important to understand the fine line between being a fan of the show and thinking that because you've invested so much energy into the show that you're entitled to things.

Opinions are a Dangerous thing: Art StylesThis isn't about narking on anyone no, infact this is just my own muses really! You could say this is a journal for ENCOURAGEMENT! *SHINES*
I find sticking to one style restrictive if you are a beginning/moderate artist! (even professionals I might say! though I can't speak for everyone)
Having a distinctive look on how your art is done and produced is understandable and its a desire to appear unique to the point some one can just SEE your work and instantly think 'Oh! that's Ten-days!' or something along the line. However, when you are trying to find who you are and what kind of art you are to produce, I recommend trying, well, a lot of different things! Different styles, mixing styles, different colouring techinque, brushes, tools, shading. Don't feel dependant on what you are already doing and don't feel pressured by people just for trying new things!
Push out of your comfort zone. Can't draw hands? don't avoid it! draw the heck out of them! (how else are you going to learn?)

It’s time for the holidays, and for many, that means gifts! But gifts can mean different things to different people: what makes a gift worth giving? Is it about the spirit of the gift or the value of the item?

Art: Take the theme of gifts and show us a moment related to the gift. For instance, the submission can show someone acquiring a gift, the moment of giving the gift, or even what happens after the gift is given. You can draw any scene (or comic) so long as the gift is shown in the image: but make sure the gift is identifiable. No restrictions on what the gift may be either. Is it an item, an idea, or something else? If it may be given, it is fair game – so be creative!

Fiction: Tell us a story about a gift – it can be set at any time of year although holidays preferred to keep in the spirit of the theme - and it's up to you how to incorporate the gift so long as we see how the gift impacts the characters: shopping/hunting for the gift, giving the gift, receiving the gift, etc. Was the gift the cause of a recent problem? Do the characters need to find a "perfect gift" to give?
